Warrior Dash – Arizona 2012

Wednesday, 09 May 2012 20:16

Warrior Dash is the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes. This running series is held on the nation's most unique and demanding terrain.  MedEvent911 evaluated over 225 participants, 10 of which required transport to a local hospital for further care of their injury or illness.  21 EMTs and Paramedics staffed 12 obstacles and a medical tent over the two-day race.  "Our team performed superbly"  stated William D. McCluskey, Owner and medical director for the event!

The Race

Runners gather in the start corral prior to their designated wave time. . Participants will run approximately 5K and complete at least 12 obstacles before reaching the finish line where they will receive a finisher medal, snack and water.[6] Timing chips record the time it takes them to complete the course.

Obstacles

New Warrior Dash obstacles are constantly being developed and are often vary from one event to the next.[6] Red Frog Events strives to have a new obstacle and overall experience every time to provide participants with new obstacles at each race, espically for repeating venues.

Post-race

Beer and food

After the race, participants can take advantage of the beer and food provided on site. . Beer options selection depends on location, but have the option of being enjoyed in a Warrior Dash beer stein. There are always plenty of food options, including large turkey legs, pulled-pork sandwiches, veggie burgers, barbecue chicken sandwiches, corn- on- the- cob and potato chips. Non-alcoholic drinks usually consist of water, sports drinks, juices, or soda.[6]

Live music

Live music can be heard at every Warrior Dash with several bands performing throughout the day. Genres vary from Top 40 to Rock.[6]

Entertainment

Warrior Dash provides additional forms of entertainment that vary at each event. Examples of such forms are axe-throwing contests, fireworks displays and chainsaw carving displays.[6]

At each Warrior Dash, there are several awards presented to participants. Each participant is eligible to win awards for:

  • Top three overall male and female times
  • Top three males and females in each age division
  • Best Warrior beard
